As the my week comes to end, so does my reign. I was just thinking back to the moment when I heard my name called as the new Mrs. Arizona America. It was a feeling of shock, relief, happiness joined with tears of joy. My mom has always told me to dream, believe and achieve. I did that. I dreamed and challenged myself. It paid off.
Being Mrs. Arizona 2009, was such a great honor. This past year has been the most amazing year of my life. I had the opportunity to travel all over Arizona, speaking to women's groups about my platform of Breast cancer awarenss of behalf of Susan G. Koman. I got to work with many different chairties and all of my travels and volunteering has truely made a difference in my life. I met many wonderful people throughout my year, many celebs, got to be on tv and have news stories done, made the cover of a magazine. Represented my state in my hometown of Tucson at the Mrs. America pageant.
As I close this chapter in my life, I will look back at all the great advantages and opportunities given to me as Mrs. Arizona. It really does open many doors and opportunites. I will walk through to my next adventure in my life with a smile and head held high knowing I can be successful.
Thank you to all my friends, family and sponorors, Diane Ritter and all my Mrs. Arizona sisters for all your hard work, guidence and friendship. I couldn't have had a successful year with all of you here by my side.
I will always and forever be your Mrs. Arizona America 2009

May 8 Mrs. Arizona Rehearsals

This was the first day of rehearsals for our 2010 pageant. All of the contestants offically met eachother for the first time. They are did an a fantastic job at learning the opening number for the show. They are all very beautiful and talented, this will be a very exciting show. Thank you to Angel LeRoy and the Arizona Angels Dance Studio for being our choregraphers.

Just a reminder that the pageant is May 22 at the Virgina Piper theater located Scottsdale center for the Arts.

May 1 Mr. An's

On May 1 I attended the grand opening of Mr. An's new resturant named "Mr. An". What was special about this event, it was a charity fundraiser to support Tu Niditio Family Services. This event was attended by many local celebs and Tucsonans. The raffle was a success and the Tucson Ladies Council was able to raise $7,500 for this charity. The fun side was spending time with friends and special guests such as David and Elaine Marmel, Owners of the Mrs. America/Mrs. World pageants, Mayor Walkup of Tucson and many more.

Thank you to the Tucson Ladies Council for having me there, it was a great evening of fun.

On April 25 I had the honor of serving on the judge's panel for the Miss Nuestra Belleza 5 de Mayo Pageant.

It was fun to be at an Hispanic pageant, its always great to reprensent your culutre. I'm glad I was a judge. It was also hard too, they were all so beautiful and well spoken. Judging wity my friend Diane Tucker and model friend Marbella Valenzuela, made it a good time too.

But in the end it was Guadalupe Camacho who took home the crown.

Lou Grubb Friends fore Golf

April 22 I was able to volunteer along side with the 2010 Mrs Arizona America Contestants. We were able to help raise funds for Lou Grubb and St. Joseph's Hospital. It was a fun night and the ladies had fun working the putting greens and silent auction items. We look forward to the event next year!

Students for the Cure Awards presentation. I had the opportunity to present awards to the winners of the Students for the Cure award at Mrs. French's 5th grade class from Booth-Fickett Elementary school. Thank you to the students for participating and writing some amazing essays. Thank you for helping to spread the message of Early detection and Breast Cancer Awareness. Keep up the good work!!

I attending the 2010 Arizona United States pageant, I went to support some friends who were in the pageant and the directors. It was fun to sit and watch, see an exciting show, job well done to my friends for being good directors. Congrads to the winners, it was also great catching up with old pageant friends, since I am former AZ US girl.

April 17 I was up and out early to join my friend and support her and the Lupus foundation by participating in the 9th Annual walk. It was a great, beautiful morning for a 5k walk. A good way to get my work out, didn't get to many pictures from this event, busy walking. Thank you Kathy Lauer, Southwest's 50's BOA for inviting me to join you.

Race for the Cure

On April 11, The 12th Annual Tucson Race for the Cure occured. It was amazing to see a such a turn out of support for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I volunteered in the Kids for the Cure area as I do every year, it was great to play with the children and still have the opportunity to spread the message about Breast Cancer Awareness. Thank you to committe heads Lorriane DeNigiris and my friend Diane Tucker for having me help out, it was great day and look forward to next year.

Evening on the Diamond

April 1, I was attending the AZ Dbacks opening season charity event at Chase Field on Phoenix. It was a great time helping with the silent auction items and raffle tickets to help raise funds for the DBacks Charities. I also met some great people from the business world of Phoenix and got to work with my favorite Security Guard Joe Ortiz and his group for the 3rd time this spring. The amazing part was I was able to bring my son Alex along to help out and walk on Chase field. But it was great to show him how fun volunteering can be.

Thank you to Debbie Castaldo of the Dbacks for having me and the other Mrs AZ contestants there to help out at your event. It was great night.

On Sunday March 28, I was a special guest volunteer at the Steve Gooter Celeb Grand Slam in Tucson. It was fun to volunteer at this amazing event and working with some of the 2010 Mrs AZ Contestants. It was a very fun morning helping out. Thank you for the Gooter Foundation for having me and the other ladies help out. Thank you to girls for making the trip out.

Hello Friends

Its been awhile since I have updated my blog. So sorry, busy, busy.. But a good busy.

n Saturday March 27, was an eventful day. My day started out modeling for my sponsors Maya Palace Fashions in Tucson. At the Women's Health Fair at the El Conquistador. I love modeling, get wear great clothes and work with my friend Diane Tucker and volunteer models, that were nurses from NW Hospital.

The afternoon was trip to Phoenix with my good friend Kathy Lauer, Southwest's 50's BOA. We attended the 2010 Ms Senior AZ America pageant and cheered on the ladies, I hope I can still be in pageants when I'm in the "age of elegance". I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Arizona America 1985 and cheer for own Volunteer/Mrs Wickenberg Helena Chapin. It was a very great day and night.

Celebrity Fight Night 2010

Hello Friends

Well its that time of year again, Fight Night.. This is the highlight of our year here at the Mrs. Arizona America Organization. This year at the event I got to help with silent auction items, my item was an 18k diamond encrusted belt.
It was a fun night of standing shoulder to shoulder with local and national celebs. I also got to spend time with some of the new Mrs Arizona contestants.

As the night went on, I got the opportunity to meet and spend time with the morning show hosts from Phoenix radio station KNIX. But my true amazement came when I talked my way through vip security and got to meet my favorite American Idol Judge Randy Jackson and I got to chat with AZ Cardinals player Tim Hightower and some stars from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The show was great too, watching musical performances from Michael Johns, David Foster, Reba McIntryre, Glenn Fry and comedy by Melissa Peterson and Chris Tucker

Overall it was an awesome night with lots of fun and great memories, I can't wait til next year.

Hello Friends

So March is off to great busy start. On March 10 I was a special guest at the "Jazz Night" in Tempe to benefit the Sandra Day O'Connor House and other charities. It was great night and I was joined by new Mrs AZ contestants Nicole Koester and Sissie Ahn. Thank you for the help ladies.

On March 13 I was back to Phoenix to participate in the 5th Annual Stars and Suns Gala, it was fun night. I helped sell auction items and raffle tickets. Later in the evening I got to spend time back stage with my friend Diane Tucker, we got to meet the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Suns players and more NBA Stars. Truely was an amazing night. Thank you to Nicole, Sissie,Melissa,Hillary and Sariah for helping out. Thanks to Diane Ritter our fabulous director for arranging this fun appearance.

March 14 I had the pleasure of working with photographer Byron Medina and his wife. It was photo shoot that was apart of being Mrs. Arizona America. Working with Byron and his team was amazing and fun. As Mrs AZ I can never have to many pictures to celebrate my fun year as Mrs Arizona.

Hello Friends

Well as Febuary comes to close and the 2010 pageant draws closer. I am just thinking about what an amazing journey this has been for me. However my fun times are not quite over yet. There are still 3 months til we get to the new mrs arizona.

I have attended some fun events this past month, I went to the Miss Tucson valley pageant, had fun in Phoenix on the 13th meeting some new ladies for the pageant. A fabulous photo shoot with my favorite photographer Ben of Benizo Photography and Kelly Wisneiswki Make-up.

On Feb 20 I was a special guest with "Protect Police K-9's" with Mrs Tempe at the AZ Animal fair, we also spent some time with Star Tower Mrs Tucson at the fair. On Feb 21 I had the honor of speaking about breast cancer awareness at the Tucson Rodeo "Tough Enough to wear Pink" event. Education is so important. Then if was off to Diane Tucker's house for our Tucson area Mrs AZ seminar. It was a great success.

Even though, Febuary is over. My March is shaping up to be a very busy one as well, so stay tuned as I post more events and as the count down kicks off toward the next Mrs Arizona America pageant.

Hello Friends

Well as January comes to close and Febuary begins, the spring is shaping up to be fun, exciting and busy as we head toward May.

January27 I had the opportunity to speak to a young women's group about Breast Cancer and how important their health is.

January 30 I got together with friends at my house and watched the Miss America pageant, it was fun to try to pick our own winner and cheer for Miss AZ Savannah T. Good Times.

Febuary 6 attending the Miss Tucson Valley/Miss Rio Nuevo 2010, I has happy to see my new friend Ashley Reischtein become the New Miss Rio Nuevo. I was joined by Star Hightower Mrs. Tucson, Sariah Betchel Mrs. Vail, Kathy Lauer Southwest's 50's BOA, Tana Castro Miss United America and my good friend Holly B. It was good fun night.

My Febuary is full of fun events, so please keep on reading as I continue my journey as your Mrs. Arizona America 2009.

More pictures from PF Chang's Rock N Roll Marathon, I had an excitiing day that started at 7:30 and went til 2pm. Talking to press, getting the finish line crowd cheering for the racers and passing out a ton of medals. What a great day and what a great cause to support.

Hello Friends

Well here we are. January is just flying by.. Where does the time go? or the old saying "Time flys when you're having fun." That is exactly what I am doing. January got off to a fun start. I was asked to help out with the NPCC "Dancing with the Stars" event on January 9 in the Ritz Carlton Tucson, I got to assist with silent auctions and raffles. I was joined by friends Tana Castro, Miss United America 2010, Missy Rambow Miss AZ Galaxy and Ashley R. Miss SE AZ.

Then on January 16,I traveled to Phoenix and attended two events in one day. I went to give my good luck wishes to fellow state queen Miss Arizona Savannah Troupe. She will do awesome at Miss America in Las Vegas, she a beautiful woman. Later that evening I was supporting my friend Kathy and her family at the LLS "Pasta Party". She was preparing to run in the marathon the next morning.

January 17 I was up and out at 7:30 a.m. at ASU Stadium for the PF Chang's Rock N Roll Marathon. It was an honor to help present medals at the finish line for almost 30,000 runners. My friends Gina, Kelly W and Kathy Lauer are my hero's for running in the marathon, I'm glad I was there to support you. Thank you to Sariah Betchel, Mrs. Vail 2010 for traveling up to the valley to assist me with this special event.

I have a lot of new exciting events planned for the next few weeks, so please stay tuned as I continue my journey as Mrs. Arizona America 2009.

Hello Friends

Well 2009 was a great year for my family and I. I am gald to have such great friends and family and make 2009 a truely amazing year. My holidays were great, I love spending time with my hubby and son. My little nephew celebrated his first Christmas with the family. Good Times.
Now as we enter 2010, I am looking forward to continuing work with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and many other organizations that need my help and enjoy the remainder of my time as your Mrs. Arizona America 2009. I will be busy in the next few months leading up the 2010 pageant.

Decemeber 2009 Holiday Parade

Hello Friends

Well on December 12, 2009. I had the opportunity to participate in the 15th Annual Tucson Holiday Parade of Lights. It was a fun experience, the weather was great. Not too cold. The parade route was lined with lots of people, so I got to wish the people of Tucson Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Prior to the start of the parade, my entry was next to some children's groups. I met with the children of the John Valenzuela Youth center, they represent gang prvention. It was fun talking with them about the how important their futures are and avoiding gangs. Its great to be a positive person for the kids. I also spoke with children who supported Toys for Tots and also met young marching band members from The Fountain of Life school. Overall the parade was fun, somewhat cold and great experience. Thank You to my friend Kathy Lauer for loaning me the car and to my husband TJ for driving and my son Alex for helping.

Well its the most wonderful time of the year!! Christmas season is my favorite.

Hello Friends

Well November has been a little crazy. I stay organized with the help of my husband TJ and my blackberry.

November 10, I was vounteer/guest at the Torii Hunter Celeb golf tournment. The event kicked off with a red carpet welcome at the Wild Horse Pass Casino, Chandler, AZ. It was fun to help welcome the celebs on the red carpet and I got the opportunity to meet some MLB players, some of the AZ Diamondbacks and Justin Upton. I wasn't allowed to take pictures with the players due to being a volunteer. I did get some fun after shots with the help of Mrs. Desert Ridge Jenn Rivers. It was a fun night.

November 12, My brother and his wife welcomed their first child to the family. My little nephew Baby Daniel was born on November 12 at 5lbs 11.3oz and 19.5 in long. I think my little nephew is the cutiest. That is me just being a proud Auntie.

November 21, I was inivited to volunteer at the LLS Celebrity Martini night at the Devil's Martini in Scottsdale. It was a fun casino night themed event, everyone helping to raise funds for the Leukemia Lyphoma Society. Thank you Tracy Elliott, Mrs. AZ 2007 for inviting me to help you out with this event and also thank you to Mrs. Biltmore 2009 Leeann Dearing for volunteering your time also. It was a great night!

I am thankful this holiday for all my family, friends and sponsors and espeically my husband TJ and my son Alex for all the support. I couldn't get my fun job done without all the help.

On October 25 I participated in the American Cancer Society "Making Strides Aganist Breast Cancer." walk. It was a great day and I appreciate my team walking with me and helping me to raise funds and awareness to help further research for a cure. Thank you to my team, Kathy Lauer (United America Ambassador), Tana Castro Miss United America, my sponsors/owners of Maya Palace John and Susie Kopeland and my friend Holly Belhuemer. I hope you will continue helping me promote Breast Cancer Awareness.

My year as Mrs. Arizona America is going well and I am glad to have a supportive group of family, friends, sponors,director and of course my husband TJ.

Hi Everyone

I had the opportunity to speaking with a women's group called (M.O.P.S.) Mothers of pre-schoolers in Vail, AZ. As a volunteer for the Southern Arizona Susan G. Komen affliate and being Mrs. Arizona. I spent the morning speaking to this group of moms about the importance of Early detection awareness and breast cancer awareness. It was great to speak to this group because as mom's we tend to put our families first and forget about our own health. Its important to focus on maintaining our health, so we can be there for our families in the future.

Thank You to Kelli York, M.O.P.S. and Komen office for having speak to this group. Education is important. This is just a great opportunity I get to have as Mrs. Arizona.

Well the weekend of October 16-18 my family and I made our annual Rister Family trip down to Tombstone, AZ for the 80th annual Helldorado Days Festival. This year was special because I got to participate in the parade. It was very hot, but I managed to stay cool and smile big for the people on the sidelines of the parade route on Historic Allen st in Tombstone. Lots of picture taking and cheers, but I think it was for my awesome ride. Thank You to my great family friend Virgil Haugen for loaning me your eye catching ride. It was a crowd favorite!

While in Tombstone, I had alot of fans that wanting pictures after the parade.

On October 16 I had the opportunity to travel down to GreenValley, AZ and speak to the women and staff members of the Santa Rita Nusering Home about Breast Cancer Awareness. It was great to meet and have time with the young women of the staff and provide information for them and meet a women who was 90 years old and a breast cancer survivor. The rewarding part of my title is being able to reach women of all ages. Thank you to the staff of Santa Rita Home.

On October 10, I attended the 2010 Miss Pima County pageant and had a great time to see some of the young women of Pima County compete for the title, very talented. I got to meet and spend time with the current title holders and friends. It was great night.

The next morning October 11, I spent Sunday morning shoot the new Maya Palace commericals and Photos. Maya Palace Boutique in Tucson has been one of my long time sponsors. They have great fashions and gowns, so if you are in the Tucson area please stop in and see them.

Hello Friends,

Well October has been a very busy month for me, I have alot of opportunities to be out in my community and Southern Arizona to speak with women about Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection Methods. The best part of being Mrs. Arizona is that I can reach so many more women and have more ears that are listening. So hopefully I have made an impact.

October 3, I was asked to attend the Women's Wellness fair. This event was held at La Encantada Mall Saturday afternoon. I was there with my local dentist Dr. John Carson and his staff. His staff help keeps my smile healthy! I got to meet lots of people and businesses and be an example of a healthy smile during Dr. Carson's presentation about his practice.

Well I have been keeping busy, I was in Phoenix on Tuesday September 22 and was honored to participate in Debbie Gaby's Catwalk for Charity. I was listed among lots of celebrities, which was very cool. It was alot of fun and getting to wear an awesome gown from Dillards. I got hang out with John Jay and Rich, Gena Nolan and of course my friend Diane T. and so many more.

Mrs. America Week

Hello Friends,

Well I am back from Mrs. America. The week started on Tuesday September 1, when I arrived at Ventana Canyon. I was dropped off by my hubby and mom. I met my roomie Mrs. Utah, Heidi. She is super sweet and we were good pals all week long. Tuesday night I attended our welcome dinner, where I officially got to meet all the other 50 beautiful ladies and pageant staff. 9-2-09Wednesday started with breakfast and rehearsals, followed by lunch and then an outting to support Tucson's Habit for Humanity. Lets just say I can't plant trees, but I sure tried. After and long monring in rehearsals and then an afternoon planting trees in the Tucson heat. We had a short tour of Tucson and then back to the hotel, with a quick change for our dinner party hosted by EL Charro Mexican Restuarant.

Everyday began for me at 5:30am, making myself look good for the whole day and going to sleep about 10,11pm every night.

9-3-09Thrusday- Began with breakfast, then a morning full of rehearsals. Rehearsals were fun, I got a laugh out of our choregraphers Frit and Frat. For some reason they liked giving me a hard time. But I'm tough I can take it. After lunch we went on a shopping venture and "red carpet"treatment at La Encantada. Then back to the hotel for our dinner party with Mr. J Walker president of tucson visitor beauru.

9-4-09Friday. Started again with Breakfast and then we were off to the Ventana Canyon Golf course for some morning golfing. Followed by a day full of fun filled rehearsals. Friday night another dinner party, this time for our wonderful site host Mr. B Johnson president of Ventana canyon. They was fun because everyone looked beautiful in their gowns.

9-5-09- Beautiful Saturday morning began for us at 6:30 am poolside photo shoot. Then off to breakfast and the seminar from MENC, then more time in rehearsals. Then dinner and off to more rehearsals and our delagate gift exchange, that felt like christmas I got some amazing stuff from 50 states. Then off to sleep and prep for interview bright and early for the first half of the states, l.ike myself. In the #3 spot.

9-6-09 Sunday morning was my interview, Judges were really nice and great conversation. The rest of the day was free til about dinner time then off to the Jazz Festival, then off to another night time rehearsal.

9-7-09 Monday morning and day fulll of rehearsals leading up to prelims tonight. I am glad that on Saturday my director Di ritter arrived and my friends/make-up/hair Kelly and Kora arrived, less stress for me having to do my own hair/make-up.LOL I had a great time being on stage, thats my favorite.

9-8-09 Tuesday!! Today is the day. final day of Mrs America week and final show. All day was spent on rehearsals then getting ready for the pageant. I got to be on TV moments before the show, local news Fox 11 asked me to the commentary and short story about Mrs America pageant. Benefit of being the hometown/homestate gal.

Unfortuantly I didn't make the finals, I was little sad, but I am glad that I have really great friends and family who came out to the pageant to support me. There love and support really lifted my spirits by the end of the night.

My Mrs America expericence was truely a dream come true, even though I wasn't a finalist. I am proud to have had the once in a lifetime opportunity to represent my State in my hometown. To me that is awesome. I am overall please with how i did and i know my family and friends are proud.

My journey has only just begun, I am still Mrs. Arizona America 2009. I will continue to represent everyone to the best of my abilities and be the best i can be.

Now its off to work and continue to be your Mrs. Arizona America 2009.

Well I got a to make an appearance at the AZ DiamondBacks game on August 29. I was asked to help sell raffle tickets for the Miracle League of Arizona. During the baseball game I was able to sell $180 worth of tickets for the league and got treated like a VIP during the game. Then I was off to get ready to head to Mrs. America pageant week.

Well today was a fun and rewarding day. I spent today helping with the Mountain of Miracles radiothon. This was a fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network and Tucson Medical Center. I got to assist in taking phone call donations and speaking to the public. I also met some really amazing children, who benefit from the money raised by CMN. I was happy to be there and had a great time. I will be back to help next year! Here are some pictures from the event. I met Jacob and Jessica just a few kids that benefit from this event.

Hi Everyone,

Well I just like to let you know what I have been up too. I have some upcoming events on my calender.

August 5 "Dine out for Music". I partnered with TGI Fridays (Tucson) to do a fundraiser for Mrs. America's national charity, the National Association for Music Education. I will be back in a few days to let you know how much we raised.

August 8- Photo shoot Phoenix, AZ

August 21- Children's Miracle Network Radiothon at Tucson Medical Center.

August 22- "Girl's Night Out" This is my send off party to Mrs. America/ Fundraiser that will benefit MENC.

Thank you Friends and Family who came out to TGI Friday's and supported MENC and me. I really appreciated it.

Hey Everyone

Well I just got my blog set up, for the most part. I will keep you updated on my journey as Mrs AZ 2009. Its been busy and fun since I was crowned Mrs. Arizona back in May. I am in process of getting ready for Mrs. America, which I am happy to announce is going to take place in my hometown.

June was a fun, I attended a Breast Cancer fundraiser "Party for a Cure" and the Miss Arizona pageant with some friends and celebrated my 32nd birthday.

July my husband and I hosted our first charity poker tournment to benefit MENC and celebrated my hubby's birthday. July isn't over and there is so much more to come, especially as I continue to prepare for the 2009 Mrs. America Pageant.
